Sequence – Logical Reasoning – MBA CUET PG – Notes & Practice Questions

A logical sequence is a set of numbers, words, objects etc., following in a sequence with some sort of relation between two consecutive sets. Sometimes, it is also called a progression.

The logical conclusion or result of a series of facts or events is the only one which can come from the given pattern, according to the rules of logic. Something that is logical seems reasonable or sensible in the circumstances.

Sequence based Questions: Types

(a) Ranking based: This type of question involves an arrangement of position or ranks of an object or a person either from left to right or top to bottom.

(a) Numerical based: This type of question contains a set of numbers and some operations are to be performed based on the questions

(b) Alphabet based: This type of question contains a set of words and some operations are to be performed based on the questions

Order & Ranking Concepts:-

In this topic, generally the ranks of a person from both the sides left or right or from top and bottom are mentioned and total numbers of a persons are asked, sometime the questions are based on their interchanged positions.

        Formulas to determine the positioning of a person

• Left + Right = Total +1
• Left = Total + 1 – Right
• Right = Total + 1 – left
• Total = left + Right – 1

Note: the above formulas are only for a single person’s position

1. Total +1 = top + Bottom
2. Top = Total + 1 – Bottom
3. Bottom = Total + 1 – Top
4. Total = Top + Bottom -1
